The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords (Warning - Spoilers)

The legend of Zelda four swords was originally a game boy advanced game released in 2002; the game has now been rereleased for DSI and 3DS. The game is very different to other titles in the series and was the first one to feature multiplayer. The first main differences is that in single player mode there is not one but two links, this allows for very Interesting and challenging puzzles involving throwing the other player across gaps, carrying them across platforms and switching between the two to defeat enemies. Being a Zelda game it has the wide the variety of items and tools that link can fit in his Tardis-like pockets including the usual bow, boomerang, shield, bombs and some other not so common ones like magnet glove and Pegasus boots. The game has no real story attached to it and simple puts you through a few small tutorials before dropping you and your partner unceremoniously in your first “dungeon” with no explanation why, only at the end do you discover Vati, the captured princess Zelda and the whole story of the game.

The game is certainly fun with many puzzles and assorted items and enemies to keep you on toes however during the game it does not introduce anything new, no new items or enemies to keep things fresh, it teaches you everything at the beginning and sends you on your way. The game in single player mode is also very short consisting of four temples with three levels in each temple, the game also has no over world and moves directly from the first temple to the next with no exploration bits in-between. The game has one huge advantage though: a hefty price tag of 0 pounds and 0 pence. The game is being given away as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations and is definitely worth the money. The multiplayer is also very enjoyable with different challenges and puzzles depending on how many players you have.

Overall the legend of Zelda: four swords is great little game available now to download for nothing at all, a must-have for all DSI/3DS owners

My rating: 8.1 – A fun but short game with a great multiplayer and an extremely small price tag.
